Anthophiles

an experiment in joined-upbiodiversity data

Non-human life is increasingly traced in data and images that record species, place and time; but the living world is a web of connections and interactions, not a list of names. This is an experiment in joining biodiversity data back together. It uses a machine-learning model to identify plants in thousands of bee observations from the Atlas of Living Australia.

An anthophile is one who loves flowers. The group of all bee species is called Anthophila; but many humans are flower-lovers too. The observations here show shared affinities between people, bees, plants and places.
